Rachel Maclean, Peter’s local MP, said:
“I’m absolutely thrilled that Peter’s work to make our society a safer and better place has been recognised by the Prime Minister.
“Peter is a complete hero, and that’s an understatement. He has saved lives in our community with his years of relentless work with children and young people, diverting them from violence and building trust.”
Pete’s referral programme provides a crucial opportunity for police and partners to divert vulnerable young people in Redditch away from the risk of criminal exploitation. Youth activities play an important role in the delivery of positive messages and safeguarding measures to young people and their parents, providing a safe space to influence attitudes and behaviours. Without these programmes we know young people can become vulnerable to being lured into various forms of criminality including, for example, violent crime and county lines. We have seen some fantastic success stories and positive feedback from young people and families who have been referred to Pete and it is vital we continue to take all opportunities to engage with young people who are at risk of offending or victimisation as early as possible.

Pete,
Please feel free to use this e-mail as a testimony for all the fantastic work you have completed with and for West Mercia Police over the past 2 years.
You are undeniably an expert in the prevention of young people from being involved in violence and especially knife crime.
Your sessions are perfectly pitched to young people and adults of all back grounds.
You are honest and reliable and I would recommend any one to commission you. Undeniably, your work in delivering sessions to thousands of young people in the Redditch and Bromsgrove areas has prevented crime and ensured lives have not been ruined.
I personally thank you.
Regards,
Inspector 1995 Mark Chappell West Mercia Police
